ASP.NET 2.0 Unleashed Released

ASP.NET 2.0 Unleashed is finally in bookstores (and available at the Amazon website). The book is close to 2,000 pages and — this was a surprise to me — the book is hardcover. My editor told me that they were forced to put the book in hardcover because of its size. Otherwise, the spine would break. However, the fact that the book is in hardcover does not change the book's price.

I devoted more than 6 months of my life to writing this book. This was the most challenging book that I've written. The ASP.NET 2.0 framework is somewhere around 4 times as complex as the ASP.NET 1.1 framework. There are a lot of new features to cover. However, this extra complexity is definitely worth it.

I'm just relieved that the book is finally finished and out in stores. While writing the book, my wife (Ruth) was pregnant with twins. I was desparately trying to get the book done before she gave birth. Ruth gave birth a week after I submitted the final chapter (that was great timing on the part of the twins).

Currently, we are putting all of the code samples from the book on this website. The code samples from the earlier chapters (in both C and VB.NET) are up. Click the Books link above to see the samples. Give us some time on the final chapters — it takes about 3 hours per chapter.
